We would like to point out about that flag that Shinya is signing.
That flag is called “kyokojitsu ki” and its known outside Japan as the “Rising sun flag”.
That flag was used by the Japanese Army and the Japanese Navy during the Pacific War from 1943 to 1945.
This flag is associated with the Japanese imperialism and nationalism, as its often shown during nationalist gathering and events in Japan from the extreme right-wing groups.
The extreme right-wing groups are Japanese political parties claiming the Japan independency and their hatred for “gaijin” (foreigners).
So its a flag that says “Japan is the best country in the world and we will kill all the non-Japanese people”.
This flag is very offensive to all those countries that were attacked by Japan during WWII. Its a flag that represents the world war and all the crimes the Japanese Army committed from 1938 to 1945.
Japanese people are not proud about it and they are very ashamed of it and, since its recognized by the UN as a war flag, it cannot be displayed or used during world sports events such as Olympic Games, baseball games or football games.
Its like showing a Nazi flag in Germany.
Would you ask a German band you claim to support to sign a Nazi flag?
Now that you know about this, do you feel proud about yourself?
If you are going to ask some Japanese rockers to sign their country flag, at least ask them to sign the regular and recognized country flag (Hinomaru).
